The Reemergence of The Open Door Choir

The Reemergence of The Open Door Choir

This year marks the year of The Open Door choir’s reemergence. Throughout our musical history the choir has always had concerts, musicals, and special selections. In late February 2020 we had our “Don’t Lose the Sound” concert and due to the discouragement of large gatherings and other impacts of Cornavirus in March, it was our last for several years. We experienced at least a year of no choir until we started rebuilding in 2021.  We’ve sung at church engagements, special services, Sunday services, etc since rebuilding, but haven’t been able pull a concert together. On Good Friday, March 29th the choir reemerged with an 16 voices to minister “Grace!” to those in attendance. It was a spirited experience and the choir sounded amazing! The choir sung songs such as “Thank You For Your Grace”, “Hold On”, “He Got Up” and “He Reigns” just to name a few. With leads from our First Lady Shernetta Evans, Sis. Sherlana Hill (recording artist), Sis. Victoria Quinn, and Sis. Rhonda Evans it was another one for the history books. The Open Door choir now boasts 6 sopranos, 8 altos, and 5 tenors (two were unable to participate in the concert). The choir is looking forward to the next concert and also looking forward to accepting new members. Choir rehearsal is on Tuesdays (usually bi-weekly) at 7:30pm. Also purchase The Open Door Church choir’s re-released album titled “The Secret Place” available on all digital platforms.
